    For Your Music Teacher
    GET INVOLVED! THE 2006 WORLD’S LARGEST CONCERT TO SUPPORT FEED THE CHILDREN - MENC and Feed The Children are working together to help children across the country by providing food for those in need and by supporting children’s involvement in music. This year, 100% of all donations from MENC's World's Largest Concert for children will go to Feed The Children. More information can be found on the web site.

    World's Largest Concert -- Feed the Children Fundraising Ideas

  • Penny/Coin Drive – Example: Set up a jar in local classrooms or grocery stores designated for FTC fundraising. Ask students to bring in change throughout the school year to be counted during MIOSM. Students will be amazed to see how their contributions grow. Every penny counts!
  • Bake Sale – Example: Sell baked goods or refreshments at upcoming school concerts or WLC event. Attendees will have a delicious treat to bring home after hearing wonderful music performed by your school music program. Tell your concert patrons the importance of your fundraising effort.
  • Talent Auction – Example: Auction off the talents of your music class for an upcoming community or school event. You will showcase your students’ musical skills while raising money for a good cause.

    Lift Every Voice: Celebrating African American History Month
    MENC presents online music resources for celebrating African-American History Month in February. Visit the web site to view free online teaching materials, suggested readings, and links to more information on the musical contributions of African-Americans.

    Participate in the National Anthem Project Anniversary Contest - Bring your choir to Washington, DC in March for The National Anthem Project’s “Anniversary Concert.” This event will include a concert held at the Smithsonian Museum of American History on March 4, followed by a combined choir rendition of the National Anthem at the NBA Washington Wizards game on March 5.
