    Melody Hounds®: Summer Teaching Opportunity
    The Melody Hounds program seeks MENC members to teach youth keyboard classes for 2006 summer camps in the following states: MA, CT, NJ, PA, GA, KY, and VA.  Curriculum and training provided to instructor free of charge. MENC members with basic keyboard skills, including retired, collegiate, and Tri-M members, are invited to apply for these paid positions.

    In addition, Melody Hounds seeks MENC members to teach early-childhood music and movement classes starting immediately in the following states: MA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, VA, MD, IL, TN, AL, MT, MI, GA, and KY. Melody Hounds® is a new multi media preschool music project. It features a puppet TV show called "Lomax...The Hound of Music(TM)", created by the award winning writers from Sesame Street® and Between the Lions®, set to air on PBS this year. The curriculum will mirror the TV show and be taught by trained instructors in YMCAs across the country using Dr. John Feierabend's First Steps in Music curriculum.

    Music Vocabulary
    Meter signature--The numbers placed at the beginning of a composition to indicate the meter of the music. The upper number indicates the beats in a measure; the lower number tells what kind of a note will receive one beat.
