    Mrs. America, Inc. is a supporting organization of the National Anthem Project. Mrs. America representatives are present at all Road Shows helping to register MusicFriends and to educate visitors about music education. Mrs. Michigan and Mrs. Nebraska are two such recent participants.

    National Anthem Project: Make A Star-Spangled Musical Statement On Sept. 14
    Plan now to add your voice on September 14 (9:00 a.m. local time) when schools and communities across the nation will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" to celebrate the anniversary of our national anthem. Invite your local teachers, parents, schools, and community leaders to join in singing this song together. Plan an event to showcase the important role music teachers play in passing our American heritage from one generation to the next. Materials are available to help you participate and get media coverage for your event.

    Grant Opportunity: Grants For Outstanding Teaching & Instructional Creativity
    The Jordan Fundamentals Grant Program recognizes outstanding teaching and instructional creativity in public secondary schools that serve economically disadvantaged students. Maximum Award: $2,500. Eligibility: teachers or paraprofessionals K-12 in public schools in which at least 50% of the school’s student population is eligible for the free or reduced school lunch program. Deadline: June 30, 2006.

    Tri-M Chapter of the Year Recognition
    MENC recently announced the winners of its Tri-M® Chapter of the Year Recognition. The Senior Division winner for the Chapter of the Year is W. T. Clarke High School, co-advised by Robin Hall and Paul LuConti, located in Westbury, New York. The Junior Division Chapter of the Year is Hubbard Middle School, located in Tyler, Texas and advised by Nancy Epperson. The Tri-M® Music Honor Society rewards exceptional middle school and high school music students throughout the world. The Chapter of the Year Recognition was developed specifically to offer opportunities for recognizing outstanding Tri-M members and chapters.

    New Sing Along Tracks of the National Anthem
    Visit our web site to find interactive versions of the "Star-Spangled Banner." Sound Choice, a music content provider, has created a video component including highlighted lyrics. The lyrics change color in synchronization with the music making it easy to sing along. With these tools, learning the words to the national anthem is fun and easy.
