    Celebrate National Anthem Day 2007!
    National Anthem Day, September 14th, 2007, marks the 193rd anniversary of the penning of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The 3rd annual sing-a-long has been planned to commemorate the event. In past years, over 2,700 schools and organizations have participated in some form of celebratory activity. This year, children, parents, teachers, and community leaders across the country are invited to come together and join in the sing at 9:00 a.m. local time on the 14th. Start now to plan a National Anthem Day event in your town showcasing the important role that music education plays in teaching American historical and musical traditions!

    Honor a Music Educator with a Lowell Mason Fellowship
    Designating a Lowell Mason Fellow is an ideal way to recognize an outstanding teacher for his or her impact on a child or community. This high honor is achieved through the $1,000 donation made in the name of each prospective Fellow. These charitable donations support future generations of music educators and may be made by individuals or groups – booster clubs, supportive parents, corporations, universities, foundations, student organizations, etc. – who feel that a candidate has made important contributions to music education.     Apply for the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award The application for From the Top’s $10,000 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award is now available online. Approximately twenty-five student musicians will be selected annually to receive $10,000 to support his/her education and artistic development, perform on a live taping of National Public Radio show From the Top, and participate in a Cultural Leadership workshop in order to create and implement his/her own performance outreach activity. Applications are now being accepted on a rolling admission basis. Current postmark deadline: September 1, 2007.
