I certainly share MENC's support for increasing and strengthening our school's music programs and appreciate all the good work they do to bring music into students' lives. Studies show that integrating music into the school curriculum can have a significant impact on student achievement. This year, as Congress reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, it is important we ensure that all children have access to a high-quality, well-rounded education. To that end, I support investments in music education, and hope the federal government can be a helpful partner in preserving and promoting arts education.
